Chasing Eternity (Part II)

Future Generations

I have a friend who had to surrender her desire for temporal success (attaining a job, pursuing a degree, chasing the money) for a greater mission God has declared for her now, sowing into her kids. This eternal ministry will reap more success and more fruit that any job or degree could ever give her. Not only will God bless her obedience, but as she stands present testimony to now through the baptism of her spouse, He will bless her family. Supernatural works takes place within these children as they are taught young how to not rely on temporal coping vices but on Jesus, who cares for them (1 Peter 5:7) and how to discern His voice for instruction and guidance when it is time to make decisions, that warrants eternal rewards. Teaching our children and the next generation in the way that they should go are eternity seeds being sown into the kingdom of God.

The Lost

The way I view those who are hurting, struggling and wavering in their faith has also changed. The more I experience Jesus and surrender to the Holy Spirit moving within me, He laments through me for all his lost sheep. All the 1’s in the world that He still grieves for and longs for. I recall my time as the one He left the 99 for, and how as a lost sheep, I sought solace in temporal and insufficient things, and my compassion for those who still does, has deepened with empathy and understanding.

Lost People Do Lost Things.

Why get angry when they respond from their brokenness? Yes it may hurt and be offensive, but when you were lost, how many people did you hurt, offend, because of your brokenness? The Holy Spirit grieves these lost souls, these individuals’ eternal selves and prompts me to pray for their surrender that leads to salvation. That they may understand and know that once they drink the living water, they will have eternal life (John 4:14).

I do not get this eternal walk right every time, still much pruning and sanctifying to go, but I am grateful for the limits it has taught me to remove off God. When we think with temporal means, we put God in a box. We constrict him to our temporal parameters and how we view things like life, our dreams and goals, friends, decision-making, careers. Even who and how we choose to love others. Once I started to embrace this eternal vision, I was able to see God’s power more clearly and unrestricted. I was able to truly see Him as limitless in all things and how He works in all people.

Let us take the cap off God and chase eternity.
